Welcome to our website! We hope you find these pages interesting and helpful. Essentially they tell you something about who we are and what we are about.

We are very excited as we are about to enter into an historic year for the Sisters of the Order of St Basil the Great. In November 2011, we will officially mark 100 years of service to the Ukrainian Catholic Church in America!

Back in 1911, Mother Helena Langevych and three Sister companions came to America from Ukraine at the request of Metropolitan Stephen Soter Ortynsky to serve the Church. Mother Helena and her companions could not have foreseen the joys, challenges, and graces they and over 100 Sisters who would join them over the next 100 years would encounter. They also could not have anticipated how many thousands of lives they would touch during their service to the Lord and the Church.

We have an exciting schedule of events planned for our Jubilee Year celebration, and we invite you to participate, as you have participated and graced our lives over the past 99 years. Our Home Page lists the events and dates.

We are also excited about the mission and direction we are taking for the next five years. At our chapter in June, 2010 we pledged ourselves to become a Hub of Eastern Christian Spirituality in the Untied States; to reverence the sacredness of God’s creation and to work toward personal transformation. As these initiatives are developed into concrete plans we will tell you about them on our website.
